How do I manually install new firmware?

How do I manually install new firmware?

If you wish to update your router’s firmware manually, you first need to download the relevant firmware from www.sitecom.com. Follow the steps below:

1. Go to www.sitecom.com.

2. Select Learning Centre

3. Enter your product code manually or select it from the list. You can find the product code on the bottom of the router.

4. Select the correct version number if prompted for it.

5. You can then find the available firmware on the product page under Downloads. Select the firmware you wish to use (the most recent), and download the file to your PC or notebook.

How do I manually install new firmware?

After downloading the latest firmware, you need to install it via your router’s Settings menu (Graphical User Interface).  The device (desktop PC, notebook, tablet) you use to access the Settings menu must be connected to the router. This can be either a wired or a wireless connection. Follow the steps below:

6. Open a web browser, such as Internet Explorer or Safari.
7. Type the following address in the address bar http://sitecom.router (or http://192.168.0.1) and press Enter.

8. Log in with your username and password. For the user name, enter “admin” (lowercase). The password can be found on the bottom of the router or in the Network Login Details flyer that may have been supplied with it.

9. Go to Toolbox and select Firmware.

10. Use Browse to select the downloaded firmware file.

11. Then click on Apply. The firmware will then be installed. A message appears as soon as the installation is complete (e.g. in the form of a bar or timer – this may vary from model to model).

After correctly completing the installation, wait for approximately 2-3 minutes before using your network again. The router itself will eventually re-establish a network connection after a correct installation. This may take approximately 2-3 minutes.

NB: by default, the Enable automatic firmware update option is selected. This means that you will automatically receive a notification when new firmware is available. In order to install firmware manually, this option does not have to be set to Disable. If you do disable this option, however, you may miss out on possible new firmware in the future.

Did you miss the notification? You can trigger it again by restarting the router. Restart the router by turning it off and on again. Wait a couple of minutes until the router is booted up and working again. Open your webbrowser. You should now see the notification.

Done! You finished all the steps!
